Links for week 6

Sorry this is a bit later than usual, I’ve had a lot going on!

Polls show the Yes vote is gaining ground. But is it enough? Remember that the only poll that counts is the one on Saturday 14th!

Last week the news was that some prominent people in the Progressive No group were changing their vote to Yes. Meriki Onus is one, and at the Indigenous X site she explains: Why I moved from No to Yes on the Voice.

New research shows that No voters already thought Australia was divided before the referendum was called, while Yes voters tend to think of us as united. This does make me wonder why No voters keep calling the Voice divisive, if they already think we are divided. It doesn’t make sense to me.

This makes a little bit more sense though: the funding for the No campaign comes from the same group which funds climate change deniers. This is shown by research from Dr Jeremy Walker from the University of Technology Sydney, which you can read in full here.

The Guardian has a guide to the referendum which might be useful. Meanwhile, the BBC is saying the Voice referendum is a reckoning for Australia. Will we start to really deal with our history honestly?

Finally, a bit of a silly video to wrap things up today:
